Extensions to IPv6 Neighbor Discovery for Inverse Discovery Specification
نویسنده
چکیده
Status of this Memo This document specifies an Internet standards track protocol for the Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements. Please refer to the current edition of the "Internet Official Protocol Standards" (STD 1) for the standardization state and status of this protocol. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. Abstract This memo describes extensions to the IPv6 Neighbor Discovery that allow a node to determine and advertise an IPv6 address corresponding to a given link-layer address. These extensions are called Inverse Neighbor Discovery. The Inverse Neighbor Discovery (IND) was originally developed for Frame Relay networks, but may also apply to other networks with similar behavior.

Secure Neighborhood Discovery
The existing IETF standards specify that IPv6 Neighbor Discovery and Address Autoconfiguration mechanisms MAY be protected with IPsec AH. However, the current specifications limit the security solutions to manual keying due to practical problems faced with automatic key management. This document specifies three different trust models and discusses the threats pertinent to IPv6 Neighbor Discover...
متن کاملIPv6 Autoconfiguration in Large Scale Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks
Mobile ad-hoc networks are infrastructure-free, highly dynamic wireless networks, where central administration or configuration by the user is impractical. The Internet Protocol IPv6 defines mechanisms to autoconfigure interfaces of nodes in wired networks in a distributed manner. In this paper, the applicability of IPv6 Stateless Address Autoconfiguration and IPv6 Neighbor Discovery Protocol t...
متن کاملThreats and Security Analysis for Enhanced Secure Neighbor Discovery Protocol (SEND) of IPv6 NDP Security
IPv6 nodes use the Neighbor Discovery Protocol (NDP) to discover other nodes on the link, to determine their link-layer addresses to find routers, and to maintain reachability information about the paths to active neighbors. Secure Neighbor Discovery Protocol (SEND Protocol) is a security extension of Neighbor Discovery. The SEND protocol is designed to counter the threats to NDP. This paper pr...
متن کاملNeighbor Discovery Optimization for IPv 6 over Low - Power Wireless
The IETF work in IPv6 over Low-power Wireless Personal Area Network (6LoWPAN) defines 6LoWPANs such as IEEE 802.15.4. This and other similar link technologies have limited or no usage of multicast signaling due to energy conservation. In addition, the wireless network may not strictly follow the traditional concept of IP subnets and IP links. IPv6 Neighbor Discovery was not designed for nontran...
متن کاملAn Enhanced Security Protocol for Fast Mobile IPv6
Recently, Kempf and Koodli have proposed a security protocol for Fast Mobile IPv6 (FMIPv6). Through the SEcure Neighbor Discovery (SEND) protocol, it achieves secure distribution of a handover key, and consequently becomes a security standard for FMIPv6. However, it is still vulnerable to redirection attacks. In addition, due to the SEND protocol, it suffers from denial of service attacks and e...
